Position Overview & Responsibilities
The network technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining LAN and WAN technologies for all remote CF locations. Core responsibilities include travelling to remote sites to set up new connectivity while following biosecurity practices. Troubleshooting and maintenance of alarm lines, phone lines and other connectivity systems is also required.
Major Areas of Accountability
Installing standardized network connections, wireless access points, security devices, and cabling for LAN and WAN connections at remote sites that span a large geographic area.
Troubleshooting system failures and identifying bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency at each remote site.
Installation and troubleshooting of standardized alarm and phone lines either VOIP or POTS.
Designing and installing computer networks, connections, and cabling
Troubleshooting system failures and identifying roadblocks in the network
Fixing problems in LAN infrastructure and testing and configuring software
Maintaining and repairing hardware including peripheral devices
Evaluating network performance to improve the network
Scheduling upgrades and maintenance without interrupting business workflow
Providing technical direction and giving training to coworkers about network systems
Working with vendors to get needed equipment for the networks and systems
Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
Minimum formal education required: Associate degree
Clear, concise, and precise written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds including non-technical audiences.
Strong solution-oriented approach to team problem solving.
Ability to multi-task and to prioritize objectives, anticipate situations and take quick action.
Additional Desirable Skills/Qualifications
2 years of experience in a corporate IT Team environment.
Certifications in any of the following are a plus: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCENT/CCNA
Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
Experience in Level 1 and/or Level 2 user support (Freshservice or similar ITSM tool).
Networking including Routing and Switching (Cisco, Meraki) and Wireless technologies.
End user computing devices including Windows, Android, and iOS.
Experience with physical security or bio-security programs and tools.

Specialized or Motorized Equipment and/or Tools:
This position will require operating a company vehicle and company owned manure agitation
equipment. Any employment offer extended for this position will be contingent upon the review of the
candidate's motor vehicle record (MVR). The MVR will be reviewed to determine insurability based on
CFF's insurance carrier and company policy.
