A Brief Overview

Serves as a resource to optimize operations at our pharmacy integrated service center and other pharmacy locations within Avera. The Industrial Engineer will focus on improving efficiency, quality and safety in the ordering, storage and distribution of pharmaceutical products.

What you will do

  • Analyzes existing workflows, identify inefficiencies, and design streamlined processes to improve throughput and reduce costs. Leads projects aimed at reducing costs, improving order accuracy, and minimizing waste through Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies.

  • Collaborates with supply chain and pharmacy teams and to ensure accurate tracking, replenishment, and storage of pharmaceutical products.

  • Works with various technology teams, identify, and recommend automation tools, warehouse management systems (WMS), and other technologies to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Uses statistical tools and software to evaluate operational performance, forecast demand, and develop data-driven solutions to meet warehouse goals to provide actionable solutions for pharmacy team implementation.

  • Assesses labor requirements, designs optimized work schedules and recommends staffing adjustments to meet workload demands.

  • Ensures that all processes comply with pharmaceutical regulations (e.g., FDA, OSHA, GMP, 340B) and promote a safe working environment.

  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management or related field

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • 1-3 years Experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry

  • 4-6 years Experience in Industrial Engineering in a warehouse or distribution environment
