Job Summary

  • Pharmacy Technician-in-Training assists in drug preparation, storage, distribution, and inventory management within a variety of pharmacy environments.

  • This entry-level position participates in and completes Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program within 12 months of hire in order to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician.

  • Upon completion of the education program and successful Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) examination, the technician-in-training will be promoted into the role of Pharmacy Technician.

  • Avera Health’s Pharmacy Technician Education Program consists of 400 hours of combined didactic, simulation, and experiential learning activities.

  • Avera Health requires a two-year employment commitment upon completion of the Pharmacy Technician Education Program.

    Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

  • Pre-admitted or officially accepted student currently enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy program required.

    Certification/Licensure

  • Registration with the state Board of Pharmacy required within 30 days of employment.

    Pay

    The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $18.00 - $24.50 per hour
