Based in Singapore, the position will be responsible for managing regional tax matters as a part of the regional tax team, reporting to the APAC Tax Director. The Regional Tax Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all local tax requirements related to Corporate Income Tax, Indirect Taxes, Withholding Taxes, Transfer Pricing and other relevant taxes. The position is required to proactively manage the work of external advisors / contractors. The Regional Tax Manager will manage tax audits and lead discussions with Tax Authorities related to disputes and agreements.

Be a co-pilot to the business and other functions to define the tax strategic framework to drive business value/ manage risk and assess the impact of regulatory changes. Ability to communicate all tax related topics in clear business language is essential. To implement and manage any projects in the region to ensure compliance with local regulations and global requirements, and monitor any changes in domestic legislation that may have impact to the business model. Assisting in the development of corporate tax structures and tax audit defense strategies, to ensure that the tax position of the business in APAC is continuously in compliance with current legislations and mitigate tax risks.

  • Tax Compliance

  • Manage the compliance filings for all taxes (corporate tax returns, indirect tax returns, fringe benefits, WHT filings, TP reports, hybrid mismatch rules etc) and ensure they are filed / reported with quality on time.

  • Supervise and review the preparation of tax filling and submission of all work performed by finance / tax team and external advisors.

  • Prepare analysis of international transactions to define the applicable tax treatment in accordance to local law and international tax treaties.

  • Maintain and track compliance to any tax incentives & settlements

  • Tax Audits / Disputes

  • Manage tax queries, audits and request for information from tax authorities. As required, provide requested information / support to tax authorities in collaboration with other functions. In the event of tax disputes, prepare defence files and lead discussions with authorities with the support of external advisors and tax team.

  • Manage court cases and review all submissions with the support of external advisors.

  • Tax Regulation

  • Be accountable to understand new rules and regulations (or interpretations) and analyse impact to the business. Communicate this in a clear and structured manner for the business to understand implications, benefits/ risks and define potential actions/ options.

  • Tax Planning

  • Work with Finance Controller and Tax Director / Manager to define tax strategies that:

  • Mitigate / minimize business risk

  • Find opportunities to reduce operating costs

  • Maximize cashflow

  • Be responsible for the implementations and benefit realization of such initiatives.

  • Tax Accounting & Processing

  • Work as a part of Finance team to review the Local and US GAAP Tax Reporting to Group, which includes Income and Deferred Tax, FIN48 and FAS 5.

  • Lead to reassess end-to-end processes to further improve the tax control environment and the efficiency and effectiveness of tax processes.

Who are we looking for?

  • BA/BS University degree in Finance/ Accounting.

  • Tax specialization or related qualification is a plus.

  • 5-7 years’ experience in Finance / Tax preferably with experience in an accounting firm and/or US MNC would be a plus.

  • Experience of leading a wide range of tax related topics, handling tax disputes/agreements and some experience of working on International Tax projects/ assignments.

  • Good PC skills with proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of using SAP is a plus.
