Job Description:

The 3M Interconnect team is seeking a firmware engineer with firm footing with engineering principles and passion for new technologies; a passionate individual with the skills to research and develop new and innovative solutions for the next generation of active electrical cable / active copper cable solutions for data center market.

• The Firmware Engineer will be part of a team that will architect, design, develop, and maintain hardware and software systems for active electrical cable / active copper cable for 3M Interconnect business.

• This engineer will also perform characterization, test and validation of each design; analyze results and create reports/presentations when needed.

• This role requires an energetic and motivated individual ready to innovate.

• Experience in a quick paced rapid development group is highly desired. The availability of traveling both domestic and overseas is a plus.

  Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering and 4+ years of industry experience with firmware development

• Strong, demonstrable coding skills in C / C++ / Python

• Experience in software feature design and development, rapid prototyping, hardware bring-up and reading schematics

• Experience with standard bus interfaces (I2C, SPI, MDIO, UART, USB).

• Experience with CMIS

• Experience with Real Time OS (OpenRTOS, FreeRTOS, Zephyr, etc).

• Familiarity with BT and BLE technology/protocols is a plus

• Experience in developing Python scripts to support firmware loading and validation

• Familiarity with DSP technology from TI / Marvell / Broadcom / Intel

• Familiarity with microcontrollers

• Experience in integration & debug in complex systems

• Experience working with high-speed communication equipment, including knowledge about SFF standards

• Familiarity with laboratory tools such as oscilloscopes (sampling scope and real time scope), Bit Error Rate tester (BERT), power supplies, and multi-meters

• Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with multiple multi-functional groups with minimal supervision
