Job Description Summary

The Regional Engineering Leader (REL) has overall responsibility for regional engineering offices performance and operation. As the REL implements the missions entrusted to the engineering offices by the Region, and the Engineering policies defined by Grid Systems Integration (GSI) Project Engineering Leader and Grid Solutions. in this capacity you would ensures management, skills development, career path definition for individual engineers’ growth and motivation of the teams, manages engineering workload plan of the region, allocates keys resources on the projects including building key partnerships with external engineering offices, defines with Operations make or buy strategy for engineering activities. You would also be instrumental in aligning processes and tools spanning Inquiry-To-Order (ITO) and Order-To-Remittance (ITR) phases with GSI Project Engineering

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drive the Engineering strategy to create impactful outcome for the business. Define and validate the design quality plan for the whole engineering scope.

  • Responsible for the project engineering budget, manages monthly follow-up of the budget, identify potential savings and deviations.

  • Responsible for the customers’ engagement on engineering execution of the projects and identify key partnerships with external engineering offices to deliver the technical content incorporating safety by design and for on time delivery with good quality.

  • Manage workload and resource planning to ensure full optimization of engineering resources and ensure that skills assessments are performed consistently so that team members have the right competencies and capabilities to support the business strategy

  • Keep abreast of emerging technology and industries and align engineering strategies to proactively stay ahead of the technology evolutions

  • Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes in EMH and deploy Engineering tools (CAD, PDM/DMS as per strategy

  • Align the ‘Make or Buy ‘strategy for engineering activities within the region and define the needs with the discipline Owners

  • Demonstrate EHS management and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team

  • Mentor, guide and coach the team members to ensure that they have the right level of know-how and the ability to perform their responsibilities

  • Advocate the Technical Expert Program and other associated initiatives that allow clear career path and development opportunities for the engineering community.

  • Support the launch of lean problem solving initiatives to understand when a KPI or process is veering off course and use the data to evaluate the situation and take appropriate mitigation steps.

  • Ability to constructively test the status quo.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified with at least 10 to 15 years of Engineering experience within an EPC type environment in Transmission & Distribution (T&D), Power Gen or Oil &Gas industry

  • Mastering of some engineering processes such as: Civil work, Plant configuration, control & protection hardware, System & performance studies or Electrical design of AC Substations, HVDC stations & FACTS

  • Demonstrate focus on Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost

  • Knowledge of various electrical design software i.e ETAP etc.

  • Customer Focus: Engagement in key decisions related to projects

  • Ability to develop growth, retention and succession planning for team

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement through our Lessons Learned process GE

  • Proven mentoring and coaching abilities to motivate & inspire others.

  • Successful experience in management of engineering teams and project technical management on large scale project with complex organizations

  • Strong influencing and relationship building skills

  • Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes

  • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to succinctly communicate complex messages

  • Demonstrated ability to manage in an unstructured environment and deliver results

  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, exercises sound judgment when decision making, influences and inspires the team, creates a vision and strategy, and has passion for the role

  • Global experience and mindset including high technical cultural aptitude and sensitivity
