LYON COUNTY ALCOHOL AND DRUG COUNSELOR SUPERVISOR/LADC-CADC in Silver Springs, Nevada

Western Nevada Regional Youth Center (WNRYC) is seeking applications for a full-time, non-exempt Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor LADC-CADC. The position supervises the Alcohol and Drug Counselors and assists the Director with program development. This position manages a caseload of clients and is responsible for the development of clients treatment plans, adolescent skills and AOD groups and networking with community resources and professionals. The desired candidate must be a licensed or certified alcohol and drug counselor.

Western Nevada Regional Youth Center (WNRYC) is a multi-disciplinary, residential treatment facility houses co-ed teen youth from the five county consortium of Lyon, Storey, Douglas, Carson City, and Churchill counties. WNRYC is a cognitive-behavioral, therapeutic milieu-based program that combines treatment, education and accountability.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in a Behavioral Science i.e. Social Work, Human Development and Family Studies, Psychology, and any closely related field of study
  • CADC or LADC License
  • Certification as a Supervisor of Certified Drug and Alcohol-Interns
  • Four years counseling experience with adolescents and their families

Hourly Salary Range: $40.5465 - $57.5912 (Employee/Employer Paid PERS Retirement) $34.4257 - $48.6424 (Employer Paid PERS Retirement) *Employees is this classification typically start at the beginning of the salary range, with opportunities for salary advancement based on merit.

**[SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:[ Under the general supervision of the Program Director, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor supervises the Alcohol and Drug Counselor I/II and assists the Director with program development. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor manages a caseload of clients and is responsible for the development of clients treatment plans, adolescent skills and AOD groups and networking with community resources and professionals. The Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor must be a licensed or certified alcohol and drug counselor.

**[ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS[: WNRYC is a 24/7 facility located in Silver Springs, Lyon County, Nevada. Staff are expected to work some evenings and weekends. Staff must be able to communicate and relate to adolescents while maintaining healthy professional boundaries. Must be able to us a team approach in accomplishing goals.

In absence of Program Director, oversee functions and staff of WNRYC facility. Incumbent may formulate policies, procedures and guidelines for the program assigned and participate in budget preparation by making recommendations regarding staffing, travel and program needs.

Monitors and reports to Program Director on individual program components of WNRYC while liaison with community resources in Northern Nevada counties. Develop professional relationship with rural counties and resources in the WNRYC consortium to provide continued care to clients and their families.

Facilitates Alcohol and Drug Counseling staff performance evaluations and disciplinary action.

Participates in the development and implementation of the adolescent alcohol and drug treatment program. Oversees counseling staffs efforts to plan, organize, and implement a program of treatment and recreation for inpatient alcohol and drug treatment clients.

Assists with general staff development for WNRYC employees; provides staff training on substance abuse and related issues and adolescent developmental phases and behaviors.

Conduct intakes and assessments of youth, using the American Society of Addiction Medicine Patient Placement Cri eria II (ASAMPPC-2R), who are potential referrals into the treatment program. When indicated, administer additional assessment tools (i.e. the SASSI, Becks depression scale, etc.

Provide and/or oversee individual, group, and family alcohol and drug counseling. Must be experienced with development and facilitation of adolescent psychoeducational groups.
