DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Maintenance Repairman 2, you will conduct general maintenance services while assisting with forest district operations and infrastructure, state forest management, and the forest fire protection program.  Specific duties include constructing, maintaining, and making carpentry/electrical/plumbing/masonry repairs to infrastructure including buildings, HVAC systems, structures, signs, boundary lines, recreation trails, etc.; assisting with forest fire prevention activities, as trained; and obtaining and maintaining Pennsylvania Forest Fire Warden credentials.

Within this role, you will also assist with other forest district operations such as facility security and protection, and delivery of supplies and equipment.  You will participate in the construction and maintenance of wildlife openings to include planting, seeding, pruning, applying herbicide, mowing, and brush cutting, as well as installing, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing woven-wire deer fence exclosures.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal, full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch, during Spring Fire Season.  After Spring Fire Season, 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM Thursday, Friday off, with a 30-minute lunch..
  • This is a seasonal, full-time position WITHOUT benefits.  The season runs from approximately March until November at which point the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Overtime and travel as needed.
  • Salary: The starting salary is non-negotiable.

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or
  • Four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.

Necessary Special Requirement:

  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.

Other Requirements:

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
