Actalent Project Architect in Short Hills, New Jersey

We are seeking an experienced Project Architect to develop concepts and technical requirements for each phase of the design process for ground-up projects. You will be responsible for producing construction drawings using Revit and managing the entire construction document set for mixed-use multi-family projects. This role involves coordinating with clients and engineering trades to ensure deliverables are met, reviewing all drawings for code compliance, and overseeing the production of architectural drawings by junior staff. Additionally, you will attend planning board meetings if licensed and be involved in zoning and planning. You will oversee and produce all deliverables from schematic design through construction administration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop concepts for each phase of the design process, starting with Site Layout.

  • Oversee all deliverables from Concept Design through Construction Administration (CA).

  • Complete zoning analyses and code reviews for new construction projects.

  • Manage the Land Use Approvals process.

  • Oversee design and details through construction documents (CDs).

  • Conduct QA/QC for all deliverables.

  • Oversee reviews for constructability with civil, structural, and MEP engineers and other project consultants.

  • Lead project teams and mentor junior staff.

  • Manage project schedules and budgets.

  • Act as Project Manager and serve as the main Client contact on some projects.

Essential Skills

  • Full proficiency in using Revit.

  • Ability to produce full sets of construction drawings for mixed-use multi-family projects.

  • 7+ years of architectural experience, including 4+ years within low-rise to mid-rise multi-family projects.

  • Strong understanding of building codes and land use.

  • Ability to handle 5+ projects in different phases simultaneously.

  • Experience in client interaction and managing junior staff.

  • Bachelor of Architecture and in the process of becoming licensed; Registered Architect is a plus.

  • Ability to coordinate with all engineering trades and manage ground-up projects from inception through completion.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Revit, Photoshop, Adobe, and redlining.

  • Involvement in planning board and zoning processes.

  • Experience with permitting and coordination.

  • Strong conceptual understanding of ground-up and multi-family projects.

  • Experience in schematic design, conceptual design, and architectural interiors.

Work Environment

Our Client is a 22-person firm located in Millburn, NJ, specializing in corporate and office interiors as well as residential projects. The firm is divided into two studios: Workplace and Residential, each with about 10-12 team members. The Residential studio works on single-family residential, multi-family, and mixed-use projects, with an average mixed-use project being 25-75 units and 4 stories, and they handle projects up to 100 units. The corporate interior studio works on projects averaging 50,000 sq ft. Typical working hours are 8:30am - 5:30pm. The firm is well-known locally and has a high volume of work, ensuring a dynamic and engaging work environment. The company values sustainability, with many employees being LEED certified, and encourages continuous learning through lunch and learn sessions. Additionally, they utilize AI in their design phase to increase efficiency.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr.
