Shift : Days; 20 hour per week Monday - Thursday 1:00pm - 6:00PM. Occasional flex 2:00PM - 7:00PM

The role you’ll contribute:

The Volunteer Coordinator plans with the manager of volunteer services the objectives and scope of the adult program. Directly supervises volunteers in designated areas. Resolves conflicts and problems as they arise. Acts as a liaison between volunteers, associates, visitors, patients, etc. Accountable for a thorough knowledge and understanding of volunteer policies and procedures and hospital policies relating to volunteers. Develops the Volunteer Services Annual Report and is Editor of VOLUNTEER VOICE.

The value you’ll bring to the team:

• Plans with the manager of volunteer services the objectives and scope of the adult program.

• Interviews prospective applicants and checks references. Evaluates their capabilities and personalities before placing them in a position.

• Orients new volunteers to the program, trains and/or arranges for their training. Develops a good rapport with the volunteers; i.e., calls each one by name, is a friend to them, shares in their joys and concerns. Recognizes their personalities, capabilities, and limitations. This requires a good memory as approximately 500 adult volunteers serve the medical center.

• Directly supervises the following volunteers:

· those who assist with the weekly/daily schedules;

· those who enter data on the computer for the volunteer office and for other hospital departments;

· those who lead various community groups on tours through the hospital;

· those who lead caroling groups through the patient care units during the holidays;

· those who perform various assignments in the volunteer services department for other hospital departments;

· flower desk;

· patient mail delivery;

· surgery waiting room;

· gift shop;

· greeter/receptionist for volunteer office

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree

• 2 to 5 Years of Position-Related Experience

• 5 of Position-Related Experience
