Application Scientist III- TEM
The role
We are the Thermo Fisher NanoPort team, the largest Electron Microscopy demo labs in the world.
Join us as an Application Scientist in Transmission Electron Microscope. This dynamic position involves providing scientific training, demonstration, guidance, application support/troubleshooting and Technical sales/marketing support.
This is a field-based role, involving extensive travel across China. Occasional support needs to be provided to customers in the other countries in Asia-pacific region. How will you make an impact?
We will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by remote support station, phone and email, serving as a trusted advisor.
Deliver on-site and remote scientific application support & training support to our customers on our leading TEM products
Coordinate customer training and deploy training agenda locally.
Generate results for marketing collateral in coordination with Sales Development and Product Marketing managers.
Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints.
Work with sales representatives on sales calls to give technical and application assistance in response to customer inquiries
Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in TEM and related subjects

How will you get here?
Education and Experience
Major in materials science, applied physics or similar
Bachelor’s degree, and 8+ years of TEM experience
Master’s or equivalent degree, and 6+ years of related experience
Doctoral degree (Ph.D.), and 3+ years of EM experience
Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Good knowledge on TEM: Diffraction, Imaging and Spectrometry
Experience in Thermo Scientific TEM, Tecnai/Talos/Titan/Themis/Spectra (TIA, Velox, CEOS, GMS…)
Customer-facing experience, with the emotional intelligence to understand customer concerns
Able to connect with and support people effectively with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
Better with some management experience
Good digital literacy and an interest in groundbreaking technology
Willingness to travel extensively (up to 60%)
Proficient in English
