Jacobs Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in Severn, Maryland

Your Impact:

This is a challenging and rewarding position with a mission to support the manufacturing of air and space-based RF systems in our Rapid Solutions Manufacturing Group of Jacobs. This opportunity involves working closely with the Engineering and Manufacturing team to build prototypes, support New Product Integration (NPI) and productions builds.

Responsibilities:

  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and acceptance criteria for Aerospace components such as cable harness, mechanical assembly, printed circuit board assemblies and soldering.

  • Experience with hands-on receiving, inspection and testing of electronic components, printed circuit boards, electronic assemblies, and fabricated parts.

  • Review Engineering documentation and generate process flow charts, manufacturing travelers, and work instructions.

  • Aid Engineering and Project Management to identify equipment and tooling required to execute manufacturing work.

  • Provide direct Quality Assurance ownership and oversite to manufacturing labs. Develop and establish metrics reporting structures.

  • Provides mentorship and training to personnel in support of new processes and use of equipment.

  • Ability to drive Root Cause and Corrective Action activities to closure.

  • Must be hands on with prototype and new product/process introduction builds.

  • Works closely with Project Management and Functional Managers in support of labor and material estimates and project schedules.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or 5 years of Electro-Mechanical Manufacturing Quality Assurance Engineering experience.

  • Experience generating process documentation and operating procedures in an AS9100 environment.

  • Certification to the relevant workmanship standards: IPC-A- 610o, IPC/WHMA-A-620 w/space addendum, J-STD-001 w/space addendum preferred NASA-STD-8739.1

  • Familiar with Configuration Management Systems, preferably EPDM

  • Ability to capture as built configurations of products with material certs/C of C’s to create End Item Data Package

Preferred:

  • Previous work experience in a Quality Assurance role in support of FAA programs. Understanding and knowledge of FAA requirements/orders.

  • FAA certification of, “Issuance of 8130-3 for Domestic and Export Approvals of Engines, Propellers, & Articles Only”.

  • Monitor process yields, recommending and implementing quality improvements based on metrics. Identifying solutions to manufacturing problems related to materials, design, and equipment.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Ability to tailor level of effort based on customer requirements and expectations.

  • Works independently with limited supervision.
