Position Description

Job Summary

What’s the job?

The Production Supervisor will be reporting to the to the Production Manager. In this role the Production Supervisor facilitates the development of high performance teams within the Roxboro, NC Gypsum Plant. The Production Supervisor is responsible for creating a culture of engagement within and between the teams to directly impact and consistently meet plant objectives and deliverables. This position is also accountable for ensuring that high performance teams work collaboratively in the decision making processes and that the decisions are in alignment with plant goals and objectives, World Class Manufacturing (WCM) standards, Key Performance Indicator’s (KPI), OSHA requirement and current Human Resources (HR) guidelines.

Essential Functions:

Health and Safety –

Monitors and adheres to plant safety systems and ensures all direct reports are working safely, complying with the safety protocols, and completing required safety trainings. Participates in risk assessments of jobs along with proper reporting of any incidents or potential incident concerns. Acts as a primary contact in addressing all plant safety concerns in the absence of plant management onsite during off hours.

Leadership / Development –

Drive daily operation plans with all team members to align with plant goals and objectives. Directs the continuous development of the team members in the operational skill set, autonomous maintenance, trouble shooting and housekeeping activities. Conducts making connections with the direct reports to understand their wellbeing at work and their needs and works closely with the production manager to address them. Manages team members electronic time sheets each week along with scheduling and coverage concerns for Vacation and / or any other absent occurrences. Conducts direct reports performance reviews, provides guidance on development with clear objectives. Handles any disciplinary actions with the assistance of the HR Manager and Production Manager.

Operations–

Able to understand plant operation to understand and determine issues and potential improvements in the process. Assist and direct employees during normal operation and upset conditions to maintain an efficient production flow. Ensures the production accounting for product and time is completed by the end of the shift with appropriate coding and confirms its accuracy. Ensures the compliance to Autonomous maintenance activities and Quality Control plan. Drives the house keeping activities on the production floor.

Communication –

Lead daily shift meetings, and plant staff meetings to discuss plant activities. Acts as a primary communicator/contact between the shifts, to the engineering teams and plant management. Escalates and timely communicates all critical concerns with EHS, quality and production to the appropriate contacts to drive corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

What do you bring?

Education:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

• Bachelor's Degree in Business Management (Preferred)

Work Experience:

  • 2+ Years Coaching/ Leading and/or 4+ years of military experience (Required)

  • 5+ Years Manufacturing Industry Background (Required)

  • Systems knowledge – Timekeeping and Payroll / Autonomous Maintenance / Production Reporting (Required)

  • Manufacturing Certifications (Problem Solving / 5S / Leadership / Etc.) (Preferred)

  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs

  • Must have very strong organizational, interpersonal, management, communication, and team building skills. Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments to drive for plant goals.

  • Must be able to lead by example, allocate resources and utilize sound judgement to coach team members to achieve the end results.

  • Must be a strong communicator with experience in coaching and mentoring for performance, both written and oral communication are strong to influence up, down and across the organization.

  • Ability to engage and develop people
