Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary:

As a Manufacturing Project Engineer , you will support process development projects for the continuous improvement of the safety, quality, velocity and cost of manufacturing. This will include providing technical support to manufacturing test engineers and development of manufacturing engine test systems ranging from process governance, data analysis tools, automation improvements, and AI implementation across all manufacturing test value streams (leak test, cold test, and hot test).

What You Will Do:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects related to engine testing, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.

  • Implement major engine test systems and the coordination of those systems with the total plant.

  • Communicate with suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product.

  • Provide guidance to manufacturing engineers and operators in order to develop high quality products and processes.

What You Will Have:

Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations. Ability to troubleshoot engine test systems/equipment through understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, engine performance, or DAQ systems to provide issue resolutions.

Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance. Experience working on cross-functional teams to make technical decisions. Experience coaching others to improve their judgement and confidence in decision making skills.

Manufacturing Process Design and Development : Knowledge of how to develop or design a manufacturing process; ability to establish and determine which processes and parameters should be opted to improve functionality and costs. Experience in implementation of manufacturing processes for technical elements of Diesel and/or Natural Gas engine testing.

Change Control - MFG : Knowledge of the processes and procedures by which a change is identified, evaluated, approved, monitored and documented; ability to manage changes in the production environment and processes effectively. Explains the basic purpose of change control and consequences of lack of control.

  • This is an on-site 5 days per week position located in Seguin, TX.

  • This position does not require travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$110,520.00 - $165,840.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
