Port of Seattle Veterans Fellow - Cybersecurity Analyst in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
The Port of Seattle is committed to assisting military personnel departing active-duty service transition to civilian employment. The Veteran's Fellowship Program is designed to provide short term (6 months) employment that will assist veterans selected for the program in the following areas:
Identifying transferable skills
Exposure to a civilian work environment
Career assistance
Exposure to corporate business practices
Mentoring
Resume and interview assistance
This position is aimed at providing management level support and oversight with leadership learning and growth opportunities related to cybersecurity efforts. It involves supporting cybersecurity initiatives for Aviation, Maritime, and corporate level business functions.
You will work at the direction of the Port’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) supporting department goals, projects, and strategic work assignments.
You will work with cyber operations, information technology, risk management, incident response, and business resiliency teams to execute and communicate plans.
You will provide regular executive level updates and contribute to team success with ongoing tracking and implementation of projects.
You will learn how to perform risk assessments against policies and standards to document risk and threats.
You will build dashboards, slide decks, reports, and presentations to share analytical insights with stakeholders and business leaders.
You will perform other related duties as assigned.
Who you are:
A Veteran – You have a minimum of three (3) years of active duty or mobilized reserve duty service in a branch of the U.S. Military Service (which includes the United States Coast Guard). Documentation of an honorable discharge from active or reserve status must be presented as part of the application process. Veterans Fellowship applicants must be within twenty-four (24) months of discharge to apply for a fellowship unless they have not worked full-time since their discharge and have been a full-time student in a degree or certification program since their discharge.

Technologically Skilled – You have strong MS Office, computer, and technology skills in support of record management, preparing graphs/tables, and assisting with report presentation.

Knowledgeable – You have a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, vulnerability management, and incident response.
Strong Communicator – You are able to deliver critical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and develop communication materials to a variety of audiences.
What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment – You will primarily work remotely in accordance with the Port’s Flexible Work Arrangement policy and may be required to work in an office environment as needed to meet business and operational needs.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position and is expected to last no longer than six months.
Security Requirements – As the successful candidate, you will/must pass a Transportation Security Administration (TSA) background check as well as a criminal history background check with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Your employment will be contingent upon obtaining a Port of Seattle ID badge upon clearance.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington State within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
