Amazon Sr. Technical Program Manager, Secure Space Builds, Region Services Corporate Infrastructure (RSCI) Secure Space Programs in Seattle, Washington

The Region Services Operations (RSO) Citadel organization owns and drives strategic, operational, and tactical initiatives to deliver secure spaces for AWS programs supporting our government customers globally. We empower organizations to achieve parity by offering flexible solutions that standardizes design and operations of secure spaces regardless of location, size, or customer. This team is looking for an experienced project management professional to lead direct reports to meet strategic initiatives through cross functional teams to drive the planning, design and construction activities of secure office spaces to support the US Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) communities.

This role requires someone with strong relationship building skills who will work with stakeholders on strategic planning/projects within Region Services Organization. Some examples of project work may include support of delivering new or expanding current secure spaces.

You must be comfortable managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical discussions to troubleshoot project management issues and remove barriers to project success.

The ideal candidate is exceptionally analytical and has a continuous improvement mindset. They have program management skill sets and a strong communicator (verbally and written) to collaborate to solve cross-organization challenges creatively.

This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Key job responsibilities

  • Lead large scale, complex facility construction and retro-fit projects

  • Influence current and future region strategic planning and forecasting models

  • Document and standardize cross functional processes and procedures

  • Develop, communicate and maintain project road maps

  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks

  • Liaison between various teams and organizations to coordinate competing activities

  • Document writing and presentations up to the director level

About the team

The Region Services Operations (RSO) Citadel organization owns and drives strategic, operational, and tactical initiatives to deliver secure spaces for AWS programs with government customers globally.

Citadel’s vision is to provide global controllership across a portfolio of secure spaces for AWS customers operating in highly-regulated environments by driving efficiency and standardization. We work backwards from unique customer regulations, access to classified systems, and user experiences to offer solutions that enable customers to deliver upon their mission. Our service, Secure Space as a Service, centralizes strategic, operational, and tactical functions to deliver efficient operations for AWS customers.

Our customers are global, unique, and diverse; our services must adapt and provide efficient solutions to drive parity across all spaces globally.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Experience working independently to design, plan, and execute technical projects; able to distill data and articulate rationale for making difficult trade-offs and prioritizations

  • Experience with cross-organizational communication to both technical- and non-technical audiences from engineers to directors

  • Proven experience in managing medium-sized enterprise projects, gathering and communicating technical requirements

  • Experience solving challenging engineering problems with multiple constraints

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
