Description Senior Patient Services Specialist - First Hill (Full Time, Day Shift) The Patient Services Coordinator II provides support and clinic coordination of multiple patient care services as well as patient orientation for the Swedish Cancer Institute on multiple campuses, exercising independence in the planning and accomplishment of a wide spectrum of clerical duties. Responsibilities include: scheduling of new patients, follow-up clinic appointments, subsequent treatments, and requested diagnostic tests, acquiring of insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations, preparing and maintaining the patient's medical record, reconciling billing issues, answering multiple phone lines and triaging phone calls. Excellent communication and problem solving skills around patient care and clinic matters are vital. Exceptional compassion, sensitivity, and emotional stability are necessary with the Oncology population. As a member of the physician practice team, this position acts as a professional liaison with patients, families, other departments, and third party payers. This position also acts as an informational resource regarding oncology support services available at the Swedish Cancer Institute. This individual performs responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. This individual will partner in the orientation and training of new staff. These responsibilities are often carried out simultaneously with frequent interruption. In addition, this job may include other special project assignments as directed. All duties accomplished with an exceptional customer service approach (AIDET Level II) to optimize the Oncology patient's experience in the Cancer Institute. Required Qualifications: Successful completion of Oncology administrative training within six months Within 6 months (180 days) of hire Medical Terminology Certification or successful completion of a Medical Terminology course 1 year experience in a healthcare setting preferred (i.e. physician's office, scheduler, etc.) Experienced in obtaining insurance verifications, referrals and authorizations Preferred Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Emphasis in Health Care or equivalent educ/experience Associate Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school with emphasis in Health Care Why Join Providence?
