Amazon Senior Manager, GSR Learning & Onboarding in Seattle, Washington

GSR recruits in over 40 countries and manages the University Hubs, pan-Amazon research partnerships with top-tier academic institutions.

The Senior Manager, GSR Learning & Onboarding, will lead a team of Learning & Development (L&D) professionals and Executive Onboarding Business Partners to develop and implement a comprehensive learning and onboarding strategy for the GSR organization and the specialty candidates we hire. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing pre-boarding and onboarding processes, as well as ongoing learning initiatives with a focus on accelerating ramp time and ensuring continued success in role.

You will partner with L8+ business leaders to understand objectives, design scalable learning solutions, and drive strategic initiatives that enable leadership development. You will develop and implement comprehensive learning roadmaps aligned with organizational priorities to support the growth and development of GSR team members. You will leverage your expertise in adult learning, learning design, and executive-level communications to ensure your team is delivering innovative, high-impact learning experiences. You will lead organizational engagement and strategic communications to connect GSR employees with the org’s mission and promote continuous learning. And you will support GSR's diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts to ensure that all learning content aligns with GSR’s efforts in Striving to be Earth's Best Employer.

This role is based in Seattle, WA and supports a global team.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage a cross-functional team of learning, onboarding, and executive onboarding professionals.

  • Own and oversee the entire lifecycle of pre-boarding and onboarding programs, from needs assessment to execution, measurement, and continuous improvement.

  • Design, develop, and implement comprehensive learning solutions and training programs to facilitate meaningful growth experiences for GSR team members and specialty candidates joining Amazon.

  • Leverage data, analytics, and feedback to measure program effectiveness, ensure alignment with KPIs and desired outcomes, and drive continuous improvements to learning solutions.

  • Incorporate experimentation, AI adoption, and new modalities to enhance learning experiences, operational processes, training methodologies, knowledge resources, and quality assurance.

  • Identify gaps in training content and collaborate with stakeholders to innovate, refine content, and influence change.

  • Develop strategic relationships with senior leaders across GSR, Talent Acquisition, and Amazon businesses to align priorities and drive impactful learning initiatives.

  • Manage complex, high-visibility projects from start to finish, navigating risks, roadblocks, constraints, and conflicting resolutions through appropriate channels.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, providing updates through MBR/QBR sessions, narrative docs, and other strategic forums.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent)

  • 5+ years of team management experience

  • 5+ years of experience delivering customized learning and training solutions to diverse employee groups

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience working directly with senior executives and leadership teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (or equivalent)

  • Familiarity with Emotional Intelligence (EQ)

  • Experience in Executive Development or Executive Coaching

  • Experience leading highly visible, cross-functional programs

  • Experience working closely with senior executives and influencing priorities

  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements

  • Strategic mindset with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders

  • Expertise in learning design, facilitation, and knowledge management

  • Passion for leadership development and creating an exceptional employee experience

  • Track record of developing employees into higher leadership roles


  • Ability to adapt in fast-paced and ambiguous environments


  • Cross-functional experience in an area outside of training and development

  • Knowledge of emerging trends and technologies within the learning industry


  • Strong analytical skills to track and report on various metrics, including initiative usage, impact and value to our learners and to our business

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $248,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
