Amazon Senior Applied Scientist, Artificial General Intelligence in Seattle, Washington

Description

The Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) team is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Senior Applied Scientist with a strong deep learning background, to build industry-leading technology with Large Language Models (LLMs) and multimodal systems.

Key job responsibilities

As a Senior Applied Scientist with the AGI team, you will work with talented peers to lead the development of novel algorithms and modeling techniques, to advance the state of the art with LLMs. Your work will directly impact our customers in the form of products and services that make use of speech and language technology. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate advances in spoken language understanding.

About the team

The AGI team has a mission to push the envelope in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Understanding (NLU), and Audio Signal Processing, in order to provide the best-possible experience for our customers.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Bellevue, WA, USA | Cambridge, MA, USA | New York, NY, USA | Seattle, WA, USA | Sunnyvale, CA, USA

Basic Qualifications

  • PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience

  • 5+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience

  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language

  • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as MxNet and Tensor Flow.

  • PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field

  • Experience with LLMs and multimodal architectures

  • Experience with generative deep learning models applicable to the creation of synthetic humans like CNNs, GANs, VAEs and NF

  • Experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
