The Position We advance science so that we all have more time with the people we love. Roche Diagnostics acquired Stratos Genomics (SBX Nanopore Sequencing) in 2020 for its novel Sequencing by eXpansion (SBX) technology. SBX uses unique applications from chemistry, biochemistry, and protein engineering to sequence DNA by nanopore in rapid time with high accuracy and low cost. You will join the Biochemistry SBX Workflow team to further develop the technology through research and development efforts. The Biochemistry SBX Workflow team is passionate and dedicated to our SBX technology and the impact high throughput, low-cost DNA sequencing will have on patient outcomes. The Opportunity Regularly participates in Xpandomer production to support the company's sample preparation pipeline After initial training, works independently or in collaboration with other team members to execute and evolve assays aimed at improving the existing Xpandomer production workflow with an eye towards commercialization Designs and performs proof-of-concept experiments to further the application potential of the SBX technology Manages own workflow to accomplish assigned objectives Assists with training junior lab members Communicates results to supervisor and project teams and proposes innovative solutions to scientific challenges. Uses technical writing skills to generate reports and documents in a timely manner. Assumes accountability for electronic lab notebook documentation, ensuring experimental methods and results are recorded timely, accurately and consistently, and according to established formats. Supports management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner. Embrace priorities and responsibilities set forth by management Who You Are: You have 5 years of laboratory experience You have a Doctorate, Master's or Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physical Sciences or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-experience. You have experience with assay or technology development You have experience with scripting languages (ie. LabView, Python) You have experience with automated liquid handling platforms You have experience with handling and purifying nucleic acids and proteins Preferred Qualifications You have 7 years of laboratory experience You have previous biotech, life sciences or pharma industry experience You have experience with commercial next-generation sequencing kits and platforms You have experience with microfluidics and sample prep automation You have experience with surface functionalization and bioconjugation techniques The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Seattle, Washington is $81,100-150,700.
