The Career Development team’s mission is to make it easier for Amazonians to build rewarding careers in Amazon’s peculiar culture. To deliver on this mission, the Career Development team is building a talent development ecosystem, which empowers human judgement, action, and interaction to make it easier to learn and grow in Amazon’s peculiar culture.

We are looking for a highly motivated, top-notch Principal TPM to play a leadership role on the team. You will have the opportunity to build, scale and shape the direction of the program, product, and technology. This role requires deep technical expertise, excellent leadership skills, and strong business judgment. You will be responsible for services that can be deployed globally, delivering an exceptional customer experience, provide thought leadership in a fast-paced development environment, and partner with product management and senior leaders to ensure the success of this program.

In this role you will create a strategic and tactical roadmap for the team and coordinate across multiple stakeholder and dependency teams. You will build mechanisms and balance long term commitments with small fixes to deliver customer value.

Key job responsibilities

1) Own successful delivery of large, high impact and highly cross-functional product initiatives while simultaneously and accurately tracking a set of smaller projects

2) Drive strategic cross-functional planning, leading discovery and prioritization by closely partnering with product managers and engineering leads to develop program plans that include roadmaps, dependency identifications, and resourcing plans

3) Ascertain the true requirements underlying feature requests; recommend alternative technical approaches and lead engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines

4) Communicate clearly and effectively to executive management on plans, status, and critical issues

5) Partner as a technical liaison between product and engineering teams

You will represent Career Dev across Amazon in technical and non-technical settings to determine how best to deliver for your customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience

  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
