WORK SCHEDULE • 40 hours per week • 5 days a week • Day Shift
The anticipated start date for this position is July 2024. The Center for Behavioral Health and Learning will open to patients in spring 2024.
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS • Perform a variety of pharmaceutical tasks under the general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist • Engage in accurate and timely medication procurement, preparation and dispensing • Promote appropriate, safe, and effective medication use
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION UW Medicine's Pharmacy Department provides high-quality and comprehensive pharmacy services to our patients and providers. Our team of specially trained pharmacists and technicians work closely with doctors and nurses to ensure our patients receive the best medication therapy for their condition.
ABOUT THE CENTER FOR BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND LEARNING The new Center for Behavioral Health and Learning , opening on the UW Medical Center – Northwest campus in 2024, offers an unparalleled opportunity to transform mental health care and to improve mental health care training in our state. Located in North Seattle, the new facility will feature 75 longer-term adult psychiatry beds, 25 geriatric psychiatry beds, 50 medical/surgical beds focused on patients with psychiatric comorbidities, and a state-of-the-art neuromodulation program. It will also house an interdisciplinary training and workforce development program focused on preparing and supporting the next generation of behavioral health providers for Washington State. The six-story building will be a beautiful place to work with lots of windows, natural lighting and open-concept spaces and will offer amenities including a new kitchen and dining area for patients, staff and visitors.

(https://facilities.uw.edu/projects/behavioral-health-teaching-facility) PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES • Accurate and timely medication procurement, preparation and dispensing • Restock drug storage areas and refill automated drug dispensing devices in all hospital areas • Packaging of medications into single unit doses and preparation of patient-specific doses as needed • Triage incoming phone calls and clinical inquiries requiring a pharmacist’s professional judgement within the Pharmacy Department
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Completion of an accredited/approved pharmacy technician training program.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT: State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
