WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Media Relations Specialist collaborates with colleagues in marketing/communications, philanthropy, government relations, conservation and other departments to facilitate media campaigns, produce and collect storytelling content, and manage earned media metrics. You will work across multiple projects simultaneously and maintain relationships with the media and other stakeholders to effectively communicate The Nature Conservancy's (TNC) programs, values, and mission.

The Media Relations Specialist is an integral contributor to TNC's Marketing and Communications Division. The Media Relations Specialist is responsible for helping advance the organization's strategic priorities and brand through earned media placements for the Southern U.S. Division. TNC's Southern U.S. Division is comprised of Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. In collaboration with the Media Relations Manager, the Specialist crafts story ideas, curates media lists, develops outreach materials and messaging documents, monitors media placements and creates coverage reports. They also follow media trends and journalists, and engage with various outlets and communities, via social media.

As the Media Relations Specialist, you will:

Serves as key team member on assigned communication and/or media initiatives.

Write, edit, and distribute communications materials around strategic conservation accomplishments, priorities, and other division announcements.

Implement and manage media tactics.

Research and maintain up-to-date lists of media contacts along with relevant coverage areas.

Write, edit, and distribute media training and briefing materials for TNC staff and trustees.

Develop press material templates and amplification content.

Track and report key metrics of success for earned media placements.
