UW Human Resources seeks a dynamic and experienced professional for the role of Director of Professional & Organizational Development (POD).

This position reports to the AVP of Total Talent Management and plays a pivotal role in aligning learning and development initiatives with our strategic business objectives, driving tangible results and sustainable growth. You will lead the POD team and steer the day-to-day operations of various ongoing programs, including Quarterly Courses, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programming, Welcome Day, the Consulting Alliance, Workday HCM trainings and design and implement innovative training and development programs that equip our workforce with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles and contribute to the overall university community. By partnering closely with senior leadership and department heads, you will identify critical skill gaps and performance metrics, developing targeted solutions to address these challenges and enhance overall productivity. Your strategic leadership will extend beyond training programs to encompass organizational development and process improvement initiatives, including talent management strategies, succession planning, and change management efforts. POD operates on a self-sustaining budget business model and through data-driven analysis and continuous improvement, you will drive business impact, foster a culture of high performance, and position POD programs for long-term financial success.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership – 40%

The Director plays a significant role in creating and maintaining a diverse work environment. Provide leadership and direction to the POD team, fostering an environment of growth, collaboration and excellence. Encourage continuous professional development by utilizing robust talent management strategies with a focus on skill enhancement among team members. Lead a team of learning professionals to design, deliver, and evaluate innovative training programs for faculty, staff, and administrators. Collaborate with academic departments and administrative units to identify learning and organizational development needs and develop tailored solutions to enhance skills and competencies. Strategize new ways to leverage current internal coaching and consulting resources making them accessible to the academy at large for assistance with organizational development and process improvement initiatives. Ensure POD’s programs are efficient and effective and fiscally sound in alignment with the UW self-sustaining business model.

POD Programming – 30%

Oversight of POD’s current programming: In partnership with the Assistant Director of TTM this position will oversee the planning and execution of POD’s Quarterly Courses, POD scholarship program, BIPOC Staff Development Program, Welcome Day and the annual Support Professionals Retreat. In partnership with the program manager for Workday HCM training, this position will also oversee the remediation of existing HCM trainings and the development of a customer-driven and employee-centered training strategy that is effective and sustainable. Ensure that content and quality align with department standards and goals. Design and deliver training courses or workshops as part of POD programming support. Lead both the internal and external consulting alliance and provide coaching or consulting in support of alliance efforts.

Strategic Planning and Reporting – 30%

Provide a strategic plan for POD. Establish key performance indicators and metrics to measure the impact of learning initiatives and drive continuous improvement. Foster a culture of learning and professional growth that promotes succession planning by providing opportunities for skill development and career advancement. Cultivate partnerships with external organizations, vendors, and industry experts to enhance learning opportunities and resources. Partner with UWHR Business & Finance team to manage budgets and understand the impacts of POD Programming business decisions on the bottom line. Prepare and present regular reports to the Assistant Vice President for TTM on program progress, challenges, and achievements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. • Minimum of six year's experience in professional development, training, or a related field, at least five of which are in a leadership role in program management, organizational development or similar.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders across the university. • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. • Demonstrated ability to lead change and manage projects effectively.

Master’s degree preferred
