The Corporate & Foundation Relations team has an exciting opening for a Director for Foundation Relations. This is a full-time, permanent position.

As a vital member of the Corporate & Foundation Relations team, the Director for Foundation Relations is responsible for developing institutional-level relationships, strategies and approaches that increase support from local, national and international foundations, with an emphasis on fundraising for a diverse group of schools, colleges and programs. The Director will shape and manage a portfolio of foundations, developing expertise into their giving approaches and aligning funder interests with University strengths and opportunities. The Director will work with a range of schools and colleges in areas such as education, law, policy, information science and built environments to identify funding opportunities, build foundation engagement strategies and develop proposals. The Director’s focus will be on organizations capable of making six-figure and greater gifts and grants in support of the University’s education and research mission.

What You Will Do: Fundraising and Relationship Management (90%)

•Engage foundation prospects through a range of cultivation and solicitation activities. •Work with faculty and Advancement colleagues to identify and develop opportunities for foundation support and articulate strategies for connecting foundations to the people and priorities within the relevant school and program. •Collaborate with Advancement colleagues and academic leadership to drive the development of institutional strategy for select foundation prospects. •Craft, review and refine proposals for foundation funding. •Shepherd proposals through the submission and review process. •Conceptualize, organize and host visits from foundations to campus, or coordinate visits of UW representatives to the foundation. •Devise thoughtful stewardship plans as part of holistic development strategy for each foundation, including working with creative staff on the creation of reports and other collateral. •Collaborate with Office of Research colleagues and the Senior Director for Foundation Relations in select limited-submission foundation opportunities. •Establish key relationships with schools, programs and leaders of institutional initiatives and priorities across the University.

Other Duties as Assigned (10%) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

•Bachelor's degree AND five years of experience in development/advancement preferably in a higher education or relevant nonprofit domain.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. What You Bring:

•Proven record of fundraising effectiveness and success. •Demonstrated ability to lead or collaborate on strategies for establishing, cultivating and stewarding sustained and fruitful relationships with foundations. •Demonstrated skill in proposal writing; knowledge of foundation prospect research. •Ability to develop fundraising strategies and approaches that integrate into the University’s mission, priorities and goals. •Demonstrated creativity and a persistent attention to detail. •Demonstrated skills in the Microsoft Office suite. •Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and furthering anti-racist practices in everyday work.

What You Can Expect:

•Cubicle/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions. •Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice. •Must have regular and reliable transportation for frequent local travel and willing to travel when necessary.
