Amazon Data Scientist, Shipping and Delivery Support Tech in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Shipping and Delivery Support (SDS) Tech team is seeking a passionate and customer-obsessed Data Scientist to join our science team. You will use scientific research and rigorous analytics to influence our program and product strategies in driver and recipient support, solve complex problems at large scale, and drive intelligence and innovation in driver and recipient support products and programs.

This role requires an individual with outstanding ownership, ability to effectively connect business needs with technology, prioritize and formulate product features into a science framework, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions and improve driver and recipient experience. We are looking for a self-motivated scientist who is comfortable with ambiguity, demonstrates strong attention to detail and curiosity in new knowledge domains, and has the ability to excel in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Key job responsibilities

  • Support the development of continuously-evolving business analytics and data models, own the quantitative analysis of project opportunity and ROI.

  • Develop, evaluate, and optimize statistical and machine learning models to solve focused business problems.

  • Retrieve, analyze, and synthesize critical data into a format that is immediately useful to answering specific questions or informing operational decisions.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in SDS and in the broader Customer Service organization, as well as with partner teams in Amazon Last Mile to deliver coherent science solutions in support of product features.

  • Stay up front with latest technology development in the science domain, including but not limited to machine learning, generative AI and large language models, and contribute to science applications in products and programs in SDS.

  • Conduct written and verbal presentations to share insights to audiences of varying levels of technical sophistication.

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ years of data scientist experience

  • 3+ years of data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab, etc.) experience

  • 3+ years of machine learning/statistical modeling data analysis tools and techniques, and parameters that affect their performance experience

  • Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language

  • Experience in a ML or data scientist role with a large technology company

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $212,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
