The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Continuing Education Specialist 2 to join their team. POSITION PURPOSE The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is a complex academic and clinical department in the School of Medicine and Affiliated Hospitals, which include the UW Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, VA Hospitals, and the Children’s Hospital. The Department includes Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Prosthetics & Orthotics, Neuropsychology, and Vocational Rehabilitation units, as well as graduate degree programs. In addition, the Department holds $11M in grants from federal and foundation funding sources.

The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is looking for a full time, 100% FTE, Continuing Education Specialist 2 position. This position will provide training to staff, stakeholders, employers, clients and family; consult on positive behavior support planning on more complex cases; assist with data collection; ensure date integrity of current database; assist director with data-driven programming goals; assist with setting up accreditation review processes; and provide direct services to a caseload of clients.

In order to do this job proficiently, it will require a complex understanding of psychoeducational/behavioral requirements of employment form the perspectives of employees, employers, family members, and the public.

This work contributes to the evidence-based approach of UW Employment Program (UWEP)providing high quality services to individuals with disabilities. Additionally, it improves the University’s relationship with neighborhood groups, businesses, local county and state agencies, and provides important opportunities for students to gain experience working with people with disabilities around employment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Consulting with Staff on Complex Cases – 30% • Consultation may include but is not limited to review of records, interview, functional analysis, direct observation, designing intervention, direction intervention, coaching employers, coaching staff, and report writing.

Direct Services to Clients to Meet Minimum Billable Requirements – 30% Preparing for Program Audits – 15% • Ensuring Data Integrity through auditing, writing programmatic goals and review of processes.

Educating with Respect to Employment and Disability – 15% • Providing education to undergraduate and graduate students, including interns; state agency workers; and others.

Training New Staff – 10% • This will include contributing to the written annual performance evaluation and giving regular feedback for improvement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Bachelor’s Degree in education, Psychology or other related field • Four to five years of experience working as a rehabilitation counselor and/or employment specialist and/or applied behavioral analysis with adults with disabilities

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
