Port of Seattle College Intern – Maritime Environment and Sustainability in Seattle, Washington
Some of what you'll be doing:
Do you have an interest in environmental data and repository management? The Port of Seattle Environment and Sustainability Center of Expertise (E&S) is seeking a full-time summer intern to support the integration of the Port’s new environmental database and optimize environmental record retention processes.
Review, summarize, and inventory records of past investigations, cleanups, and spills in the Port’s environmental database.
Identify data gaps and work with PMs to prioritize historical data to upload.
Consolidate and reorganize database site structure.
Conduct field visits to locate and record environmental well locations and conditions and update an inventory of the existing groundwater monitoring well network.
Coordinate with the Port’s legal department to identify best management practices for environmental record retention and apply to Remediation document repository.
Inventory existing environmental records for each site and work with PMs to upload environmental records to Remediation document repository.
You will gain valuable insights into Port operations, customers, policies, stakeholders, and our role in shaping Seattle and Washington State.
You will participate in E&S staff meetings and other meetings and occasionally give presentations.
You may also work on other E&S projects and will have opportunities to apply creative thinking, innovative approaches, and grow professionally.
Who you are:
A Student – You must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program or be a recent graduate (< 1 year ago) in a degree program such as Environmental Science, Data Science, or a related field.

What else you need to know:
Work Schedule – Normal work hours will typically be scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.
Work Environment – This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.
Limited Duration – This is a limited duration internship and is expected to last no longer than five months.
Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
