Expeditors Business Analyst II - Distribution, IS Operational Experience in Seattle, Washington

Our software business systems are built to provide efficiency and functionality to our branch offices and warehouses, allowing Expeditors to provide outstanding customer service and competitive rates. Our internal and external systems are an integrated suite of collaborative supply chain software applications that are designed to assist our operations teams and customers in managing international and domestic shipping challenges. This position is a part of our Distribution team.  This team focuses on building and sustaining our proprietary warehouse management systems which are deployed to Expeditors' branches around the world.

The Business Analyst/Product Owner (PO) will be a member of an agile software development team working on our distribution software using SAFe Lean-Agile development practices. The PO serves as the customer proxy responsible for working with Product Management, users, and other stakeholders to prioritize and define the work of their team. The PO will collaborate with other leaders to set the vision for the team's work and be accountable to both technical and business stakeholders to deliver customer value. The PO must develop a strong grounding in the business domain that the team serves. The PO supports all team members in understanding how individual contributions align with the program vision. The PO must have a keen understanding of customer empathy and the customer value proposition to guide the ongoing development of their product to achieve customer satisfaction. The PO will clearly articulate the business outcomes and facilitate creation of features with clear acceptance criteria. The PO has a significant role in outcome-focused quality control and is the only team member empowered to accept work stories as complete.

What you will be doing:

  • Be a highly visible, fully embedded team member who participates all team-level check-ins, meetings and other ceremonies

  • Build, refine, and prioritize team backlog in alignment with the program vision and roadmap

  • Craft meaningful requirements that align stakeholder needs to capabilities and clearly define acceptance criteria

  • Collaborate with other Product Owners and Managers to resolve dependencies, coordinate efforts, and deliver cross-functional initiatives and technical enablers

  • Bridge between the development team and business stakeholders to address complexity or ambiguity

  • Advocate for both our users and the development team

This position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate. Relocation assistance is not offered for this position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of software analysis or relevant experience

  • Certification or ability to become certified as a SAFe Product Manager/Product Owner

  • Proficiency with the system development lifecycle, including agile techniques and other methodologies

  • Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively

  • Effective at navigating ambiguity and helping diverse teams drive towards clarity and consensus

  • Ability to elicit clear requirements and compose concepts, ideas, and designs into actionable deliverables

  • Outstanding communication, time management, and organizational skills

  • Driven, strong 'get it done' attitude

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of the transportation/global logistics industry

  • Understanding of Distribution/Warehouse Management/e-commerce

  • Experience as a Product Owner for an Agile team

  • System or Data analysis experience

  • Understanding of database structures, data relationships, and structured Query Language (SQL)

  • Working knowledge of Office 365, Visio, Azure Dev Ops (VSTS/TFS), SharePoint

Expected base salary:  $85,000 to $135,000

May be eligible for bonus following first year of continuous employment in position.
