The Opportunity with McKinstry
We are currently seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to join our New Construction team as a member of our Engineering and Design division. Our New Construction team supports our internal design-build project teams delivering new ground-up projects as well as our larger tenant improvement projects within existing buildings. We also work directly with owners and architects on non-design-build projects. We have a focus on commercial, life science, and industrial projects but also do projects outside those sectors. We are looking for an engineering leader who is capable of flexing across multiple markets and taking on new challenges.
The Associate Engineer position is a mix of brains and brawn. You will be a day-to-day project manager, a technical leader and mentor, and mechanical engineer of record. As a team leader, you will mentor and supervise junior staff and join the New Construction team’s leadership group, helping to steer our direction.
Engineers at McKinstry are unsurpassed in their ability to combine innovative problem solving with common sense design applications. Because of our design, build, operate, and maintain (DBOM) process, McKinstry engineers concern themselves not just with the construction of a building, but how it will operate over its entire lifetime. Every design choice is made toward one goal – delivering high-performance buildings that ensure occupant comfort and safety, keep energy/operating costs low, maximize client profitability, and protect the environment. Responsibilities include:

Lead quality assurance for your projects to comply with McKinstry and client standards
Lead engineering sales efforts with internal and external clients, including developing engineering fees & writing proposals
Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with customers
What we would like to see from you:
Ten (10) years experience in the industry with proven team leadership and project management experience
Experience with life science/laboratory, commercial office, and/or industrial projects is desired.
Professional Engineering License in Washington State or ability to achieve reciprocity within 90 days of hire
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience sufficient to satisfy Professional Licensure is required.
Revit working knowledge and experience is required
Strong foundation of mechanical engineering knowledge across system and equipment types found in our key market sectors.
