Lockheed Martin System Administrator - Intern in Schriever AFB, Colorado

Description: Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) is looking for an energetic student pursuing an Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), or related STEM degree for a 2025 Summer Internship.

The selected candidate will be working with experienced IT professionals supporting the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) program for the Missile Defense Agency.

What We’re Doing

Our C2BMC Global team, is engineering, developing and integrating new capability for the Missile Defense System that currently protects the United States and its allies. The team is very large but is broken down into many smaller agile teams that work together in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Our team is also responsible for tasks such as Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security and enhancing other critical, leading-edge missile defense technologies.

The Work

As a System Administrator on the team, you will provide help desk support for C2BMC Global customers by troubleshooting and remedying a wide variety of technical issues on both Linux and Windows systems. Typical duties include configuring and managing Linux and Windows Operating systems to include implementing operating system enhancements to improve reliability and performance; installing software; applying and enforcing security policies using automation tools such as Ansible and PowerShell; and deploying and maintaining virtual machines in a complex, hyperconverged infrastructure.

You will collaborate with a diverse team of technical professionals including software and systems engineers, architects, and our project engineering team.

Basic Qualifications:

**Must be a US Citizen; this position will require a government Secret security clearance. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. **

** Candidate must obtain a DOD 8570 certification such as Security+ CE or equivalent prior to start date

- Be enrolled in a Computer Science (CS), Information Technology (IT), or other related STEM degree such as Mathematics or Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering

- Must possess good problem-solving skills

- Must be able to work as a member of a team in a dynamic, high-paced environment

- Have an interest in applying and gaining exposure to system administration principles

Desired Skills:

- Systems administration interest

- Windows or Linux system administration coursework / certifications

- Network management coursework / certifications

- Highly Motivated

- Must possess good verbal and written communications skills.

Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week

Pay Rate:

The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Washington or Washington DC is $20,904 - $61,672 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
