Description of Duties:

The Junior DCO Network Operations Specialist supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

  • Perform Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO)/Cyber Security Service Provider (CSSP) duties outlined in Evaluator Scoring Metrics (ESM).

  • Configure and optimize network hubs, routers, and switches (e.g., higher-level protocols, tunneling).

  • Develop and implement network backup and recovery procedures.

  • Diagnose network connectivity problem.

  • Install and maintain network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware).

  • Install or replace network hubs, routers, and switches.

  • Monitor network capacity and performance.

  • Patch network vulnerabilities to ensure information is safeguarded against outside parties.

  • Test and maintain network infrastructure including software and hardware devices.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Ability to operate network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related hardware.

  • Ability to execute OS command line (e.g., ipconfig, netstat, dir, nbtstat).

  • Knowledge of risk management processes (e.g., methods for assessing and mitigating risk).

  • Knowledge of server administration and systems engineering theories, concepts, and methods.

  • Knowledge of national and international laws, regulations, policies, and ethics as they relate to cybersecurity.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.

  • Knowledge of specific operational impacts of cybersecurity lapses.

  • Knowledge of computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies.

  • Knowledge of communication methods, principles, and concepts (e.g., crypto, dual hubs, time multiplexers) that support the network infrastructure.

  • Knowledge of capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related hardware.

  • Knowledge of organization’s LAN/WAN pathways.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles used to manage risks related to the use, processing, storage, and transmission of information or data.

  • Knowledge of information technology (IT) security principles and methods (e.g., firewalls, demilitarized zones, encryption).

  • Knowledge of local area and wide area networking principles and concepts including bandwidth management.

  • Knowledge of measures or indicators of system performance and availability.

  • Knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, Dynamic Host Configuration, Domain Name System (DNS), and directory services.

  • Knowledge of how traffic flows across the network (e.g., Transmission Control Protocol [TCP] and Internet Protocol [IP], Open System Interconnection Model [OSI], Information Technology Infrastructure Library, current version [ITIL]).

  • Knowledge of basic concepts, terminology, and operations of a wide range of communications media (computer and telephone networks, satellite, fiber, wireless).

  • Knowledge of common network tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, nslookup).

  • Knowledge of different types of network communication (e.g., LAN, WAN, MAN, WLAN, WWAN).

  • Knowledge of network security architecture concepts including topology, protocols, components, and principles (e.g., application of defense-in-depth).

  • Knowledge of network systems management principles, models, methods (e.g., end-to-end systems performance monitoring), and tools.

  • Be willing to support troubleshooting for shift workers in a 24x7 operational environment and respond quickly to emergencies as needed.

  • Be willing to support a rotating on-call schedule.

  • Be able to multi-task and prioritize various projects and assignments in a dynamic work environment in order to meet scheduled/unscheduled customer requests.

This position can be filled at Schriever SFB, Colorado Springs, CO.

This position is expected to pay $69,500 - $94,500 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

This position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days. If a candidate has not been selected at that time, it will continue to be posted until a suitable candidate is selected or the position is closed.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 3 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 1 years of general experience; Bachelor’s degree and 0 years of general experience.

· Must have 1 year of directly related experience

· Must have a DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CCNA-Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, CND, SSCP)

· Must have a DoD 8570.01-M CSSP Infrastructure Support certification with Continuing Education (CE) - (CEH, CySA , GICSP, SSCP, CHFI, CFR, Cloud , CND)

· Must have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret
