Sarasota County Government Benefits Assistant in Sarasota, Florida

Support our 5,000 employees and covered individuals in their Benefits journey. In this role your core responsibility will be vendor payment processing, vendor payment reconciliation, submitting purchase requests and initiating Board agenda items.

Benefits Team Support

  • Prepares Time of Wire and all payment requests from vendors on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.

  • Reconciles checks from Payflex and FRS for Payroll.

  • Assists in gathering data information for OPEB, OIR, nondiscrimination testing, and other compliance and reporting needs.

  • Field benefit inquiries.

  • Assist with special events and projects for the Benefits and Wellness Teams and provide back-up to the Benefits Coordinator and Benefits Specialist, when applicable.

Administrative & Creative Duties

  • Organize the Benefit Team's activities and meetings including calendar management for the Benefits & Wellness Manager and Senior Benefit Analyst.

  • Meeting facilitation to include scheduling participants, meeting rooms and appropriate other resources.

  • Maintains inventory of SOPs for Benefits Team.

  • Create, review and post content for Stall Talk, Employee Update, Enplug and other communication materials using Canva and available resources.

  • Acts as a P-card holder to orders supplies, items and services eligible for p-card for the Benefits and Wellness Team.

Responsible for maintaining confidentiality, especially when handling information containing Personal Health Information (PHI).

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree AND three (3) years professional administrative experience

    • OR - Bachelor's degree AND one year of professional administrative experience
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field

  • Benefits experience

  • CCP/SHRM certifications

About Everything Else Starting Pay Range: $25.45 - $27.30/hour, based on your experience Full Position Pay Range (future earning potential): $25.45 - $43.26/hour Our interview process could include phone interview(s), Microsoft Teams video interview(s), and/or in-person interview(s).
