UCLA Health Sterile Processing Supervisor - Main Operating Room - Santa Monica in Santa Monica, California

Take on a prominent leadership position in the Sterile Processing Department. The Central Sterile Supervisor requires outstanding communication and critical thinking skills. Individual in this role must possess strong clinical background to assist training of staff to perform duties as a Surgical Processing Technician to include: decontamination and/or processing of equipment and instrumentation, and distribution of supplies or equipment, as assigned within UCLA Healthcare. Trains, supervises, and assesses Surgical Processing Instrument Technicians. Ability to consistently apply standards and achieve successful outcomes related to all types of sterilization practices for multiple departments within the hospital.
The position also oversees high level disinfection (HLD), sterilization, storage and transport for offsite ambulatory clinics, and other departments of the hospital, such as MPU, L respiratory therapy, cardiac, and emergency room. Other major duties include, but are not limited to, customer service and departmental efficiencies. Able to maintain, prioritize, and expedite work flow. Works with Clinical Educator to conduct orientation, training programs, and staff development. This position works independently, receiving general guidance from the Central Sterile Manager.
Salary Range: $64,800-$137,600Qualifications
2 years experience in Sterile Processing or Operating room required.
Required Certification:
Certification as a Surgical Technician or
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or
Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) or
Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or
Certified Healthcare Leader in SPD (CHLSPD)
- Preferred Certification:
Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (C.F.E.R.)
Strictly obeys the healthcare regulations for infection control: failure to adhere to these regulations will result in disciplinary action.
Properly utilizes and provides resource information regarding proper sterilization techniques, product information, equipment operation, etc. to fellow staff and other healthcare team members, serves as a resource for people needing direction as required.
Consistently demonstrates a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Actively participates in Quality Management and Performance Improvement programs.
Consistently adheres to UCLA Perioperative Services policies and procedures.
Attends all inservices/workshops as requested. Assists in the orientation and skill development of new staff members. Attends and participates in required fire, safety, disaster, body mechanics, etc. classes and/or drills.
Always ensures a safe working environment for self and co-workers. Monitors and reports unsafe acts or conditions and takes appropriate proactive steps to resolve and/or report.
Consistently maintains good guest relations interdepartmentally, intradepartmentally, using English language in both written and verbal format, uses good telephone etiquette, sensitive to co-workers, patients, physicians, and family members, consistently maintains a courteous and respectful manner, confidentiality of patients, healthcare or physician related information

Always rotates supplies, both prepackaged and interdepartmentally packaged, using the first in/first out method. Always inspects for package integrity and appropriate change of chemical indicators.

Able to rotate efficiently to all shifts to evaluate all shifts.
