Job Summary:

The Seamstress at Regent Santa Monica Beach will be responsible for providing exceptional tailoring services to our colleagues and guests, ensuring that their garments are perfectly fitted and meet the resort’s standards. The ideal candidate plays a pivotal role in ensuring the impeccable presentation of guest clothing, colleague uniforms, and linens. Your expertise in garment construction, alteration, repairs, and personalizing will contribute to maintaining the Regent Santa Monica Beach standards of luxury and sophistication.

A little bit about your day:

Reporting to the Director of Housekeeping, every day is different, but you’ll mostly:

  • Promote Regent’s service philosophy and style through our people attributes.

  • Maintain impeccable personal grooming standards to uphold the professional and property style of the resort.

  • Retrieve seamstress assignment and other tools essential for your shift.

  • Perform precise alterations for the colleague’s uniforms, and guest garments to achieve a tailored and perfect fit, adhering to the resort’s aesthetic and quality standards.

  • Sew, stitch, and mend garments as needed, using appropriate techniques and equipment.

  • Inspect and repair damaged uniforms, linens, and other fabrics with meticulous attention to detail.

  • Utilize various sewing techniques to mend tears, replace buttons, and address other issues.

  • Ensure all uniform garments align with the Regent uniform design standards.

  • Conduct thorough inspections of all altered or repaired garments to ensure the highest quality standards are consistently met.

  • Maintain a keen eye for detail to catch and rectify any uniform discrepancies.

  • Report and keep track of the inventory of fabrics, threads, and other sewing supplies.

  • Communicate with the housekeeping manager to ensure an adequate stock of sewing materials.

  • Implement specialized embellishments or embroidery on uniforms and other garments as needed, ensuring precision and consistency.

  • Collaborate with the Housekeeping department to address any specific needs related to linens or decorative fabrics within the resort.

  • Operate the sewing and embroidery machine according to manufacturer’s instructions for guests' and colleagues' needs.

  • Conduct fittings with precision and attention to detail, ensuring comfort and Use materials and supplies (e.g., threads, buttons, zippers) that are of high quality and appropriate for the garment.

  • Ensure that all alterations and repairs are completed flawlessly, with no visible signs of modification.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-equipped workspace to facilitate an efficient workflow.

What We need from you:

  • Proven experience as a seamstress, preferably in a luxury hotel or high-end fashion setting.

  • Formal training or certification in tailoring and garment construction is preferred.

  • Proficiency in all aspects of garment alteration and tailoring techniques.

  • Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and fittings.

  • Knowledge of various fabrics, sewing materials, and embellishment techniques.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with guests and colleagues.

  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

  • Essential verbal and written communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational abilities and skills for taking initiative, problem-solving, multi-tasking, and prioritizing.

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds.

  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

  • Flexible schedule, available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you can expect from us:

The hourly pay range for this role is $24.52 to $30.65 . This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at Regent Santa Monica Beach . This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. A colleague’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.

Note: No amount of pay is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable. The amount and availability of any bonus, commission, or any other form of compensation that are allocable to a particular employee remains in the Company's sole discretion unless and until paid and may be modified at the Company’s sole discretion, consistent with the law.
