Disney Entertainment Manager, Hulu Subscriber Planning in Santa Monica, California

About the Role & Team

Hulu Subscriber Planning is a highly visible team of hard-working professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology. We serve as in-house advisers to the Direct-to-Consumer’s executive leadership and own subscriber planning and reporting for Hulu’s SVOD and Live businesses. We have directly contributed to the rapid growth and success of the Direct-to-Consumer business!

Job Summary:

Are you interested in joining a hard working team who has been a key part in Hulu's growth by providing strategic support and financial analysis? Hulu’s Subscriber Planning team is seeking a strong candidate who will be an outstanding addition to our team of strategic finance professionals.

What You Will Do:

  • Own the strategic long-range plan, annual operating plan, and forecasting processes for Hulu’s subscription business; work closely with key partners within Marketing, Data Analytics, Strategy, and Finance teams to present a comprehensive plan for our business.

  • Work cross-functionally with teams in Content, Marketing, Analytics, and Strategy to develop business insights that uncover subscriber growth levers and opportunities to improve customer lifetime value.

  • Lead ad hoc analyses and deliver presentations that drive financial and strategic decisions around subscriber growth and retention.

  • Maintain a strong understanding of operating performance (e.g. KPIs, subscribers), major deals and transactions, and issues and challenges facing the businesses

  • Develop impactful, compelling presentation materials (decks, notes, write-ups, backup materials, etc.) that effectively communicate subscriber projections, drivers, business performance, and risks & opportunities, and present to leadership.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

The right candidate for this role will have outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, sets a high bar for themselves, has a track record of success when collaborating with business operators. They must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of key partners.

  • 4+ years of finance or strategy experience and proven track record with a credible tech or media & entertainment firm, management consultancy or investment bank / private equity firm

  • Expertise in effectively building highly complex financial models (Excel)

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint) and ability to simplify matters for an executive audience

  • Highly proficient with quantitative data analysis and utilizing data to drive decision-making

  • Organized, self-motivated and comfortable working without guidance, in a fast-growing environment with multiple partners

  • Excellent teamwork skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and independently when needed

Education:

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Economics or similar field with an analytical bias; MBA (or equivelant work experience) is a plus

The hiring range for this position in CA is $123,000.00-$165,000.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
