Job Description
Gilead's mission is to discover, develop, and deliver therapies that will improve the lives of patients with life-threatening illnesses worldwide. As the Director, Global Commercial OL & Congress Strategy Marketing is responsible for executing an overarching commercial opinion leader (OL) interaction, advisory and medical congress strategy for the Kite CAR T and cell therapy product portfolio. This position reports to the Executive Director, Global Commercial Strategy Head and is based at HQ's in Santa Monica, CA. NJ location could be considered.
In partnership with Global Commercial leadership, regional and local commercial colleagues, and cross-functional partners, this role is responsible for execution of Kite’s overarching commercial global interaction strategy with opinion leaders in the heme, hem/onc and CAR T treatment areas to advance adoption for the use of Kite therapies in hematologic malignancy.
Within that scope, specific job duties include:
Commercial OL Interaction Strategy
Support the development of global opinion leader mapping (identification, profiling, segmentation) across pipeline disease areas and indications working in close collaboration with the global commercial strategy team, regional leads, and local country marketing teams
Support local country marketing teams with identification and mapping of global thought leaders for in market disease areas, deferring to local country marketing team as the primary points of contact for these thought leader relationships and interactions
Partner with global commercial strategy brand leads to build adoption for Kite brands ensuring identified global brand advocates for all product and indication launches
Work in close collaboration with local country marketers and cross-functional partners to ensure thought leader engagement strategy, positioning and educational initiatives are consistently aligned with the global business strategy and OL knowledge needs
Partner with local country marketers to identify key thought leaders for strategic advisory/council engagement and work in close collaboration to design, develop and implement productive council meetings
In partnership with country marketing teams, gain ongoing insight into key thought leader needs and Kite experience, identifying and aligning on plans to identify and manage key issues and opportunities with cross-functional partners. Develop Kite positions and determine educational and messaging opportunities
Global Congress Strategy
Work in partnership with global commercial strategy, cross-functional, local affiliate, and vendor partners to develop and implement key global congress strategy, identifying strategic opportunities to introduce cell therapy and highlight Kite as the leader in CAR T and other cell therapies in hematologic diseases.
Scope may include selection of congresses, development of overall congress strategy and objectives and managing Kite sponsorship, commercial presence and facilitating execution of both internal and customer facing activities at the congress, in collaboration with other Kite and Gilead functions.
Partner with Gilead Congress and Events team to ensure smooth execution and appropriate guidance to support Kite’s top congress participation.
Partner and support local country marketers in development of strategic plans for collaborating with National Professional Societies, including but not limited to ASH, ASCO, ASBMT, EHA and EBMT
Manage budget, vendor partners and cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
Ability to travel on a significant basis (>50%)
Basic Qualifications:
Advanced scientific degree (i.e., MD, PharmD, PhD) and 8+ years of experience
OR
Master’s Degree and 10+ years of experience
OR
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of experience OR High School Degree and 16+ years of experience
Preferred Qualifications:
8+ years biotechnology / pharmaceutical industry experience that may include prior medical communications, MSL, brand marketing or field sales experience in hematology / oncology
Thorough understanding / prior experience in the hematology / oncology clinical landscape and the business of cell therapy and demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships with oncology and cell therapy opinion leaders highly desirable
Prior experience leading OL strategy & engagement efforts, including global advisory board and congress presence strategies for a biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical company with high innovation products in a specialty area – prior cell or gene therapy and/or hem/onc experience a plus. Product launch experience with paradigm changing biopharmaceutical products a plus.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to independently lead high visibility strategic projects and translate strategies into defined resource needs, tactics, and metrics to achieve results
Demonstrated ability to lead with tact and influence in a fast paced, matrixed global biopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical organization. Strategic, a strong planner and a driver of collaboration and execution by the team.
Excellent verbal / written communication skills
Experience working with senior/executive management to clearly and concisely present strategies and plans for endorsement

The salary range for this position is: $205,615.00 - $266,090.00. Kite considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
