The Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) will engage across teams to standardize the quality enablement approach for implementing software test solutions. This role will involve researching solutions to make necessary adjustments and recommendations to resolve complex software-related issues.

The Lead SDET will begin to influence the department’s strategy and will make decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding the technical approach for project components, performing work without direct supervision. This position allows for considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

Quality Enablement: Develop and support software quality tools, ensuring that all information systems products and services meet organizational standards and end-user requirements.

Tool Development: Create and enhance automation tools for testing, including exploring and integrating AI-based testing solutions to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.

Testing: Conduct manual testing as needed, design test cases, and develop test data for applications to ensure comprehensive coverage of functional requirements.

Problem Resolution: Document and work to resolve complex issues, understanding quality metrics and promoting continuous improvement within the software development lifecycle.

Process Improvement: Devise improvements to current procedures, conduct complex workflow analyses, and recommend quality enhancements to support agile delivery teams.

Communication: Effectively communicate progress on problem resolution to management and provide insights into potential improvements and future configurations.

Guidance: Act as an information resource supporting agile delivery team members with quality solutions and test tool guidance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant equivalent years of experience.

  • 8 or more years of experience designing, developing, and testing of software applications and/or infrastructure.

  • 2 or more years of project leadership experience. This role will be 50% technical and 50% leadership/mentorship responsibilities.

  • Develops test data and procedures for ensuring the software products meet organization standards and end-user requirements.

  • Test Management Tools: These tools help manage and organize test cases, track test progress, and provide reporting capabilities. Examples of test management tools include ADO, JIRA or similar.

  • Automated Testing Frameworks: These frameworks provide a way to automate test cases and ensure consistency in test execution. Examples of automated testing frameworks include Selenium, Appium, and Cypress.

  • Test Data Management Tools: These tools help manage and generate test data, making it easier to test different scenarios and edge cases. Examples of test data management tools include Test Data Factory, Data Generator and Test Data Builder.

  • API Testing Tools : These tools are specifically designed for testing APIs. They provide features to send requests, validate responses, and simulate different scenarios. Examples of API testing tools include Postman, SoapUI, and REST Assured.

  • Performance Testing Tools : These tools help measure the performance of the tool under different loads and conditions. Examples of performance testing tools include JMeter, Gatling, and Locust.Security Testing Tools: These tools help identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities in the tool. Examples of security testing tools include OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite, and Nessus.

WAH requirements

  • WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high-speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

  • A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

  • Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.

  • A dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.

$106,900 - $147,000 per year

This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
