WM Accounting Analyst I, Finance Green Team in Santa Fe, New Mexico
I. Job Summary
The Accounting Analyst I will provide accounting and finance coverage for all WM Area Finance/Accounting teams and Corporate Finance/Accounting departments (i.e. finance, accounting, internal audit, treasury). The analyst will be assigned to support projects and assignments across a variety of Finance functions.
This role is a hybrid role based in the US, working at the nearest WM office which will require working in the office Mondays – Thursdays and remote on Fridays.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs month-end close activities for assigned areas of responsibility including preparing journal entries for entry into the general ledger.
Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; Prepares monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and adequately documents conclusions.
Prepares basic financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.
Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls. Executes internal controls responsibilities timely and accurately.
Performs simple financial projects on an ad hoc basis.
Monitors key financial performance measures.
III. Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited), or in lieu of degree, high School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant experience.
Experience: One (1) year of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
- None required.
C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
General understanding of US GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and SEC regulations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong business acumen.
Travel: Infrequent travel (Up to10%)
Must be authorized to work in the US.

Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) most of the workday.

Normal setting for this job is: office setting/hybrid.
The expected salary range for this position across the U.S. is $65,000 to $80,000. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
