Position Summary:
The Transportation Supervisor reports to the Transportation Manager and directly oversees the activities within their assigned transportation work team, ensuring that productivity levels and customer service requirements are met and that employees comply with all safety, quality, and compliance standards established by the company, regulatory authorities, and the industry.
Essential Functions:
Supervise the daily activities of Shuttle Drivers, a Dispatcher, and Administrative Assistant.
Host meetings and set priorities for the team to ensure the understanding and completion of tasks.
Effectively manage and lead a team with a focus on maintaining operational functionality and safety.
Participate in monitoring and developing team member performance, including evaluations, training, and recognition.
Ensure work assignments and schedules meet department, facility, and contractual needs.
Respond to inquiries, requests, and concerns from passengers and team members.
Utilize company policies and guidelines to solve work-related issues.
Ensure that department training programs and recertification programs are conducted within appropriate timeframes.
Implement and manage quality control monitoring and safety programs; maintain a safe work environment.
Achieve operational performance and functional service activities.
Provide coaching and interpret policies and procedures to assist employees in performing functional tasks.
Monitor and maintain appropriate staffing levels and weekly schedules.
Special projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Ensure that all drivers comply with local laws and regulations in accordance with the transportation industry standards.
Other:
Ability to adjust work schedules as needed to support operations.
Ability to effectively lead a staff of direct reports.
Ability to effectively communicate and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and procedural manuals, and handbooks.
Basic understanding of computer programs, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to resolve issues under tight timeframes and pressure.
Ability to prioritize assignments and projects and multitask within restricted time constraints.
Excellent team-building and planning skills.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop productive business relationships and influence and educate employees.
Supervise transportation staff effectively.
Qualifications:
At least 1 year of experience supervising employees.
Experience within the transportation industry is a plus.
Experience managing teams effectively: strong staff retention, counseling, and team member development.
MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) proficiency required.
Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to give effective presentations to both small and large groups.
Resourceful team player with a positive outlook and approachable demeanor.
High School Diploma or GED (required).
