TEKsystems Principal Infrastructure Engineer/Architect in Santa Clara, California
Description:
Our client's Director of Enterprise Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering is looking to bring on a Principal Infrastructure Engineer that will report into him to help drive Cloud projects across the organization while managing his offshore support team in India. He is looking for someone with with 8+ years' experience working in an AWS and Azure environment who will be responsible for supporting and managing the day-to-day operations of this group.
Our client moved to AWS in 2021 and our monetizing a lot of their platforms and applications currently that are running in AWS and Azure with some POCs coming up in GCP. This individual will need to be familiar with the cloud platforms they use and be able to oversee all the infrastructure projects that range from systems engineering, cloud architecture deployments, setting up cloud monetization and overall operational support as they continue to expand their services to other groups/companies across Hitachi.
This person will need to be very hands on as they will be leading the offshore team and will handle escalated issues from this 24/7 team. Main projects this person will help drive are around modernizing their infrastructure such as network segmentation, SD WAN Solutions, zero trust architectures etc. Having an understanding of how these transformations happen is going to be key. When they promote new technologies and get new projects, they need this individual to make sure they know how to simply the network architecture or deploying a zero-trust implementation.
90% of the team is offshore so will need to take meetings later in the evening or early morning to communicate with them ( flexible on hours here and on an ass need basis). Will use this meeting time to talk about the pressing issues, if they need more help or guidance, what things they need help figuring out, and how they will proceed. Will need to discuss what are the priorities that they are working on, and what certain tasks they want to complete. Also have meetings about everything related to operations - enhancements that they want to complete on the infrastructure side. Will also meet with other teams like the applications team, the information security team, the operations team.
This year they are starting to look at new POCs for implementing AI Ops so if someone has experience in AI/ML that would be a huge plus.

Has a strong understanding of the AI operations concept and experience in deploying these solutions in a cloud platform. Needs someone that can talk outside of just technology terms and someone that can communicate with business leaders and all different lines of business. Being able to explain what they are trying to achieve, the benefits, and the ROI.
