Our Data Center Engineering Maintenance team maintains our critical infrastructure systems so that they are prepared to stand up against any situation.

The Data Center Engineering Maintenance Technicians have safety, customer satisfaction, and business responsibilities within data center operations. The person in this role is responsible for identifying, troubleshooting, providing quality repairs and routine maintenance of electrical generator systems, related engine mechanical failures, UPS batteries, and Infrared Scanning of electrical distribution. The Engineering Maintenance Technician is both the technical expert and primary customer support contact to the customer, and is therefore responsible for continually communicating with the customer to provide an exceptional customer experience and drive data center up-time and availability.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities:

• Know and follow all Company safety rules, including maintaining a safe, clean, and orderly work area, and fully participate in company accident prevention and safety improvement activities

• Travel to designated sites and perform professional quality field service repairs consistent with company standards

• Execute predictive and preventive maintenance programs for Diesel Generators, UPS batteries, and Infrared Scanning of electrical distribution.

• Advise the Service Manager of parts needed for necessary repairs to Generators, Battery systems, and IR findings

• Keep Generator Service Manager continually apprised, and utilize leadership to assist in answering customer questions and problems when necessary

• Document detailed, complete and legible descriptions of all repair operations performed

• Accurately record time, expenses, and mileage

• Travel 40% of the time in an assigned region, and/or work overtime, weekends for emergency support.

• Lift up to 50 lbs frequently; pushing and pulling a maximum force of 50 lbs

• Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Protective Glasses, Protective Gloves, and Protective Footwear as required

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• 2+ years of hands-on working on electrical generator systems

• 1+ years UPS battery maintenance

• 2+ years of customer service/contact

• Experience troubleshooting and repair of equipment using standard safety procedures

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-year technical training program completion, completion of a 3 year apprenticeship, Associates or Bachelor’s Degree

• 4+ years of Data Center Engineering Experience

• Fully trained on MTU and Caterpillar products

• Level 1 - Thermographic Applications Certification

• Level 2 - Advanced Infrared Thermography

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $152,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
