The Director of Systems Integration will own the definition and integration of modular solutions to build a scalable OTTAVA robotic surgical business impacting millions of patients and expanding the capabilities of physicians globally.

You'll collaborate on breakthrough medical technologies that unite multiple subject areas to build a connected digital ecosystem that advances medical professionals’ skills and improves patient outcomes.

This director will be a key technical and strategic leader on one of the most exciting programs and J&J and in healthcare in general! The candidate must bring a strong blend of technical ability and people leadership to bear on this critical role. They must also balance depth in robotics with a passionate focus on understanding and meeting the needs of clinicians and operating room staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow a team of 40 engineers and managers in the integration of complex robotic hardware and software across all capital subsystems and the full system level

  • Establish team initiatives to achieve program goals and improve functional excellence in mechatronic design and prototyping, hardware/software integration, incorporating clinical feedback into design, characterization and test design, and system bring-up and stabilization

  • Champion teamwork between the OTTAVA Hardware, Software, Clinical, and Systems Engineering teams

  • Mentor and coach senior managers, managers, and individual contributors

  • Maintain functional alignment within OTTAVA R&D leadership

  • Provide strategic integration mentorship to OTTAVA Senior Leadership

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A minimum of Masters’ degree or equivalent experience in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar Engineering field is required

  • 10 years of Research & Development experience in engineering or related function is required

  • 8 years of industry experience is required.

  • 3 years of people management experience with direct reports is required

  • Previous experience in hardware/software integration is required

  • Demonstration of successfully bringing complex products from concept to formal testing (e.g. verification & validation) is an asset.

  • Experience with the design of robotic systems in healthcare is preferred.

  • Previous experience successfully launching medical device products is beneficial.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively recruit, develop, manage and coach associates (including manager level talent) to strengthen organizational capabilities is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated success in partnering and influencing across a matrix environment is required.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and partners is required

  • Ability to travel up to 10%, international and domestic, is required

The anticipated salary range for this role is $193,000-$312,110
