DevOps Engineer

Santa Clara, CA

6 months contract

Seeking an engineer to help manage the daily flow of software being developed across the globe. This person will be responsible for maintaining the health of the software repositories, ensuring that the software can be successfully built and is working all the time. Responsible for ownership of delivering the software to - Various internal teams and organizations, ensuring that all incremental changes and patches are synchronized to different build systems. Also responsible for ensuring that software being developed by external - Vendors and teams is properly sanitized, integrated and shared.

This person needs to be enthusiastic about leveraging automation of software patch and build management and enhancing existing processes to improve them continuously and guide the team members within and outside the organization to sound practices.

Required Skills:

  • 2+ years of DevOps experience including implementation of configuration management software (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Python/Bash/Ruby or equivalent scripting languages.

  • 2+ years of experience with Linux (Ubuntu, RedHat, CentOS) administration including networking (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP/HTTPS etc. protocols).

  • At least basic knowledge of container technologies (Docker/Warden/Kubernetes).

  • Experience in designing, monitoring and supporting a large-scale & highly available hosting infrastructure.

  • Experience with administering/tuning relational (e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL) and No-SQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra, HBase).

  • Fluency in English.

  • Experience with monitoring systems (e.g. Nagios or Zabbix).

  • Experience with administering Hadoop clusters and solutions based on Hadoop (e.g. HBase).

  • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies: Cloud Formation, S3, Autoscale, Cloudwatch.

  • Knowledge of architectural patterns for Internet Applications/Services.

  • Application clustering and load balancing concepts and related technologies.

  • Minimum Educational Requirement: Bachelor's Degree in CS or other closely related field.
