The Facility Security Officer (FSO) is a critical role responsible for the oversight and administration of security programs in compliance with government and company policies. In this hands-on position, the FSO will manage facility access, personnel security clearances, and physical security measures. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of security protocols, a strong ability to lead and train staff, and work creatively to foster a secure environment while promoting a culture of awareness. This is an in-person position in our Santa Barbara, CA office, moving to Goleta, CA in June 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the implementation and ongoing administration of the security program in compliance with NISPOM requirements and company policies.
Conduct security briefings and initial training for employees and contractors on security awareness, insider threats, and protocol procedures.
Oversee the management of personnel security clearances, including submission, tracking, and maintenance in accordance with USG standards.
Develop and maintain comprehensive physical security measures, ensuring access control and surveillance systems are effectively operational.
Participate in security audits and assessments to identify security vulnerabilities and recommend corrective actions to enhance security processes.
Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure compliance with security regulations and policies.
Respond to incidents in a timely manner, conducting thorough investigations and documenting outcomes per established procedures.
Assist in the development and revision of security policies, procedures, and emergency response plans.
Maintain accurate records and documentation for security incidents, employee clearances, and other security-related activities.
Represent the security team in meetings and provide updates regarding security initiatives.
Other professional duties as assigned.

Pay Transparency
This job posting may cover multiple career levels. To ensure greater transparency, we provide base salary ranges for all roles, regardless of location. Our standard pay ranges are based on the role’s function and level, benchmarked against similar growth-stage companies. Compensation may vary based on geographical location, as certain regions may have different cost-of-living factors. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience.
Compensation Range
The Compensation Range for this role is $105,000- $140,000.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in security management or as a FSO, with in-depth knowledge of NISPOM and related security regulations.
Secret Clearance or Active TS/SCI security clearance, read-in within the past two years.
A proven track record of establishing and managing effective security programs within a facility access environment.
Strong understanding of personnel security clearance processes and compliance requirements for US government contracts.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences clearly and effectively.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
Proficient in using security management software and tools, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining confidentiality and discretion regarding sensitive information.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate partnerships across the organization.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, or a related field.
Experience in aerospace or defense environments, with familiarity with government contracting and the security landscape.
Certification under security-related organizations (e.g., ASIS, NCMS).
Experience with risk management and the ability to assess and mitigate security threats.
