General Description

SUNY Niagara’s Child Development Center is seeking a part time grant-funded Lead Teacher.

This position will be for a maximum of 30 hours per week for approximately 30 weeks, Monday through Friday. This is a 10 month position from late August through mid-May. Reliable transportation to and from work is an expectation.

In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, SUNY Niagara will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Typical Work Activities

Responsibilities for teachers include but are not limited to the following:

• Planning and preparing the learning environment

• Individualizing infant/toddler routines

• Facilitating curriculum goals and objectives

• Facilitating and recording monthly observation and assessment measures for children

• Coordinating parent and teacher conferences

• General housekeeping duties

• Serving meals

• Planning and preparing involvement activities, and center recruitment

• Other duties assigned by Director

Essential Functions

Ability to relate to a diverse population of children, students and parents.

Required Qualifications

Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field;

OR

CDA or similar credential and one year experience related to caring for children

OR

9 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field with a plan of study leading to a CDA or Associate’s Degree and two years of experience related to caring for children.

Desirable Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Early Childhood, Child Development, Elementary Education, or related field; CDA Credential; BOCES Early Childhood Education graduate; state provisional or permanent teacher certification. At least two years of consistent paid experience as a lead teacher teaching in an infant/toddler classroom within the last four years.
