Job Description

Performs complex professional accounting work involving the application of a comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices to the resolution of a wide variety of complex accounting problems. This position may have primary responsibility for a segment of the General Accounting operation or a specialized complex area.

Job Duties

  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide assistance on payroll-related matters.

  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies or errors.

  • Stay updated on tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes, including Social Security, Medicare, and income taxes.

  • Prepare and file accurate and timely payroll tax returns (federal, state, local).

  • Reconcile payroll liabilities and resolve discrepancies.

  • Prepare complex journal entries and reconciliations.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date payroll records.

  • Conduct internal audits to ensure payroll and tax compliance.

  • Respond to external audits and inquiries from tax authorities.

  • Utilize and maintain payroll software systems.

  • Prepare and distribute W-2 forms at year-end.

  • Collaborate with finance, human resources, and other departments.
