We are looking for a California Benefits Specialist Contractor to join the global People Operations team. This role is a three month contract with the possibility of extension. It is a hybrid role, requiring two days in office in San Francisco. Are you a benefits subject matter expert with experience administering benefits plans, providing guidance and support to employees (particularly around leaves of absence and accommodations), helping employees navigate complex situations, and ensuring that the proper policies and procedures are in place to help organizations remain compliant? salary: $40 - $53 per hour

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and administer leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and California state laws (FMLA, ADA, etc.)

  • As the accommodations subject matter expert, develop and implement communication and training materials to ensure that key stakeholders are informed of the processes for requesting reasonable accommodations

  • Subject matter expert for the US providing guidance and support to employees and providing input to cross-functional initiatives that impact benefits

  • Manage all US benefit programs, including but not limited to medical, dental and vision insurance, LOAs, etc.

  • Manage US paid time off programs and short- and long-term disability programs.

  • Serve as contact for vendors and third-party administrators and participate in the broker relationship

  • Document and maintain procedures for assigned benefits processes and proactively identify process improvements to reduce cost, mitigate risk, or improve efficiency

  • Ensure compliance with applicable government government regulations. Ensure timeliness andaccuracy of required reporting and fees

  • Coordinate daily benefits processing, such as handling enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, QDROs, QMCSOs, and compliance testing

  • Oversee monthly billings and payment of administrative fees for all plans, reconcile invoices for accuracy, and ensure payroll data accurately reflects employee elected benefits
