Sutter Health Administrative Intern Temporary in San Francisco, California
The Administrative Healthcare Internship is a 10-12 week program that provides an outstanding opportunity for Master's prepared individuals to learn from excellent preceptors and to work in one or more areas of administrative specialization: acute care hospitals, medical groups/foundations and ambulatory care environments in an integrated, not-for-profit health care system. Administrative Interns gain experience and develop an in-depth understanding of operations and strategic initiatives through project work and direct participation in management activities. Exposure to the various healthcare environments enables Administrative Interns to gain a broad base of understanding regarding the challenges facing health care delivery systems and additionally to develop valuable skills that will better prepare them to assume leadership roles in the health care industry.
Education, Licensures and Certifications
Student must be actively enrolled in a health related or business graduate degree program to qualify as an Intern. Required
Undergraduate degree in business or a health-related field
At the time of application, one must have an undergraduate degree in business or a health-related field and one must be a current graduate student of an accredited university in the first year of an MBA-healthcare focused, MHA, MPH, JD or highly desired are MSN with a dual degree MBA, MHA and/or MPH Graduate Degree Program(s)
Experience in the healthcare industry is preferred.
Experience in the healthcare industry is helpful, as is experience analyzing complex issues and recommending appropriate/meaningful and fiscally sound solutions required.
Skills and Knowledge
Knowledge of current issues affecting the healthcare industry desired, as is awareness of applicable legal and accreditation requirements, standards and guidelines
Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma approaches to process improvement and fundamentals of project management are preferred.
Must have excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation), problem solving and analytical skills required to formulate and recommend creative solutions to diverse and complex problems.
Computer skills also required, including use of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software.
Organization and prioritization are skills required
Assignments may consist of considerable complexity and variety, which require the application of independent judgment and initiative.
