Description
Our client, a dynamic and growing organization in the construction industry, is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your accounting expertise and work in a fast-paced, rewarding industry.
Responsibilities:
Record and maintain general ledger entries for construction projects and company operations.
Perform monthly reconciliations for accounts, including bank and credit card transactions.
Prepare and process project-related invoices, tracking construction costs and budget variances.
Assist in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes, including vendor payments and collections.
Help with project accounting, ensuring proper cost allocations and revenue recognition.
Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
Prepare financial reports, including profit-and-loss statements and job cost reporting.
Monitor and review payroll for construction employees, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate financial tracking for active construction jobs.
Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
Maintain compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Requirements
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry or a similar field.
Solid understanding of GAAP and construction-specific accounting practices (e.g., job cost accounting).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage 300, Viewpoint Vista, or similar platforms).
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups, and formulas).
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and stakeholders.
Familiarity with accounts related to construction (e.g., WIP schedules, project budgeting, etc.) is a plus.
CPA certification or progress toward certification is preferred but not required.
